2007 Mayors' Cup Race Walk

The Mayors' Cup Race Walk is back by popular demand! This year Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam returned to Market Square to defend his 2006 title against local fitness guru Missy Kane, KAT General Manager Cindy McGinnis, City Councilman Chris Woodhull, UT Lady Vols swim team member Ashley Yeager and UT track team member Jeff Day. The injured Knox County Mayor Mike Ragsdale was on hand for moral support and vowed to race again next year.

Contestants introduce themselves to the race announcer, Frank Murphy of Star 102.1 radio.

Defending champion Mayor Haslam sizes up the competition, UT Lady Vols swimmer Ashley Yeager, before the race.

Missy Kane leads the group through the "Hip Wiggle Warm Up" to loosen things up.

Missy Kane took the early lead.

KAT General Manager Cindy McGinnis battled with UT swimmer Jeff Day.

Mayor Haslam threw an elbow at Councilman Woodhull...no wonder the Mayor won the "Best Arm Swing" category!

Kane celebrated her victory, while Haslam applauded and Woodhull experienced the agony of defeat.

Mayors Haslam and Ragsdale presented The Mayors Cup to Missy Kane.

Final Results:

Winner and Best Rhythm Award: Missy Kane
2nd Place and Best Arm Swing Award: Bill Haslam
3rd Place and Best Spirit Award: Chris Woodhull
Best Shoes Award: Cindy McGinnis
